We continued to work a little bit on our presentations and we also viewed other groups presentations. We answered questions asked by the other groups and some questions sparked discussion in the classroom. These presentations are about themes in “The Devoted Son”.

We worked on our group projects on “the devoted son”. We also viewed and responded to others projects about other themes that are present and could be interpreted in the text.

We answered questions based on culture and generation expectations. These questions are leading up to the next text we will read. We discussed our answers with the class and we had 7 questions in total.

3-15-24

We read a newsela article about 3 year bachelor programs and the effects they have. The 3 year programs allow students to enter the workforce earlier and save some money too. The only problem with it is that some people feel unprepared and some say you could make the wrong choice for your career as it is too early. We answered questions about the article and also wrote our thoughts on the questions provided.

3-13-24

We took a quiz based on the poems we have read this week and the last. It was comprehensive questions about the deeper meaning of the things in the poems and the literary devices they use. There were also questions about the stylistic choices of the poems as a whole.

3-12-24

We discussed the questions based on “the chimney sweeper”. It is two separate poems based on the same thing, on based from innocence, one based from experience.

3-11-24

We read the two poems both called “The Chimney Sweeper”. One view was from innocence and one was from experience. We answered questions about each individual one and then also questions that related the two poems.

We read two poems about the same thing, emotions dealing with childbirth. One poem represented the joy felt by childbirth, one represented sorrow felt by it. They both conveyed the emotions through the literary devices and words. We then put down things that can have joy and sorrow associated with them. We also answered questions based on these two poems.

3-5-24

We read 2 poems about a lamb and a tiger. The lamb was portrayed as innocent and holy. The tiger was portrayed as powerful and fear inducing. The religious part of the poem could be seen as both the lamb and tiger came from the same place. We did an assignment on canvas based on these poems and talked with the class.

3-4-24

We read a poem about how an enemy can affect you. By letting your hate fester inside you the problem never gets solved. It can get worse and worse. Dealing with it with a friend can be easy. We answered questions based on this and talked with the class.
